Affectionately known as “Juanita” by everyone in her adopted home in the small village of San Ignacio, Ms. Ames has lived in the town’s original guest-house a half block off the main plaza for 20 years. During that time she has absorbed and added to the sense of slow-paced and friendly atmosphere unique to this oasis in the heart of the peninsula.
